Financial statements tell the story of a business, and it all starts with understanding profitability. In the first session of the three-part Money Matters series, participants will learn how to read and interpret an Income Statement, one of the most important tools for measuring business performance.
This session will explore revenue, expenses, cost of goods sold, and profit, helping business owners better understand where their money is coming from and where it is going. Participants will gain insight into how an Income Statement can support decision-making, identify trends, and evaluate overall business health.
This foundational session sets the stage for the next two sessions covering Cash Flow Statements and Balance Sheets.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the purpose and components of an Income Statement
Identify revenue, expenses, and profit
Learn how to evaluate business performance using financial data
Recognize common financial trends and warning signs
Prepare for deeper financial analysis in Sessions 2 and 3
While each session can be attended independently, participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions to develop a comprehensive understanding of the financial statements commonly used to evaluate and manage a business.
